Instantly Differentiate with the SAME Text Written Above, At, and Below Grade Level: Each text is written at six different Lexile levels, so all students can read and understand the same content independently.
Provide Texts for Every Student During Distance Learning: Students can read texts online at home at their Lexile level (with or without audio support) and complete quizzes to be reviewed later by their teacher.
Access a Library of Texts Aligned to Your Curriculum: Save time with a library of texts aligned to every NGSS standard and the four domains of Social Studies
Teach NGSS or Social Studies and Common Core ELA standards simultaneously: High interest texts teach science and social studies concepts while comprehension instruction and quizzes focus on the Common Core ELA standards you choose.
Each text is written by a professional children’s author to engage students and is reviewed by professors from The University of Northern Iowa and St. Ambrose University to ensure accuracy. Science texts were written specifically to address each NGSS and begin with a phenomenon photo (showing science in action in the real world) and a question to mirror NGSS-aligned instruction. Social Studies texts support the C3 framework by beginning with an inquiry question, teaching disciplinary concepts, and providing evidence students can use to develop claims.
All students can read the same content at their reading level. Choose from three Lexile levels for first grade texts. Choose from six Lexile levels for 2nd – 5th grade texts - one above grade level, three at grade level, and two below grade level. Don’t use Lexile levels? Use our chart to convert to six other leveling systems.
Comprehension instruction is embedded in the text, and is customizable for the Common Core ELA Standards you wish to address. Post reading quiz questions are also aligned to your chosen standards. Choose all multiple choice or include two constructed responses in the randomized question set. Don’t use the Common Core? Choose by comprehension topic such as main idea and text structure.
Audio can be turned on that allows students who need extra support to listen to each text read aloud. Students listen to a professional voiceover artist to help them understand the information through engaging pacing, meaningful inflection, and accurate pronunciation of unfamiliar terms.
Upload your list of students to assign customized text to individual students, a group you have created or your entire class. Access print-optimized .pdf versions of every article at every Lexile level. Your customized comprehension instruction and randomized question set are included in the print out.
A printable extension activity and a writing prompt are included with each text. The activity focuses on a comprehension skill that helps students to organize and apply the information they have read. The writing prompt asks students to explain a science concept by applying what they have learned to a new situation.
View individual student scores or class reports by question, by Common Core Standard, or by comprehension topic.
